About the Artist
Micaela McLucas is a photographer and director known for her colorful works that straddle the fine art and commercial worlds. Her experimental techniques challenge the politics of the image, and tests the boundaries of photography.
There is always an element of unexpected that only comes from tapping into play. Seducing the medium, seducing the screen, seducing the images. Pushing the boundaries of what film, photography, painting, and installation can be. She is always in search of new ways to invite the viewer into her wavy universe. Images become videos, become paintings, become performances, and so on and so forth. The work consists of layers and layers of different realms constantly being pushed against one another. There is a constant invitation for the glitch to thread the work together, or break it apart again.
